Conditions and indications for chiropractic in Amsterdam

Wellbeing Chiropractic Amsterdam

Many people come to us when their body keeps giving signals. We look at function, load and movement quality, without quick promises or healing claims.

Common reasons people visit us

Chiropractic care can be part of the assessment and treatment of back, neck, joints and nervous system complaints. We always check whether your complaint fits within our approach and refer you when this is wiser.

  • Back and neck complaints: such as a hernia, sciatica, lumbago and scoliosis.
  • Headache and migraine: often related to tension in the neck.
  • Joint pain: complaints in the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.
  • Neurological symptoms: such as tingling in the arms or legs.

Understand first, then consider care

We start with an initial consultation and assessment to better understand what is going on. Based on this, we discuss whether chiropractic care is appropriate and what a care plan could look like.

The complaints people bring to our practice

Most people come to us with complaints that have been going on for a while and that no longer settle with rest alone. Below is what we look at most often. Whether chiropractic care is appropriate in your case is something we decide only after a thorough examination — not on the basis of the complaint alone.

Back and neck pain

Low back pain, a stiff lower back, neck complaints and tight shoulders are the most common reasons for a visit. Long hours of sitting, one-sided loading or an old injury often play a part. We assess the mobility of your spine, your posture and the muscles around it, and discuss what can realistically be done.

Headaches and migraine

Headaches that seem to come from the neck, tension headaches and migraine-type complaints are a frequently heard reason for a consultation. We look at the function of the upper cervical vertebrae, your posture and factors such as screen use, stress and sleep. Here too: examine first, conclude later.

Pelvic, hip and leg complaints

Pelvic instability during and after pregnancy, pain radiating into the leg and hip complaints come up regularly. For pregnancy-related complaints, see the page on pregnancy and postpartum as well.

When to see your GP first

With sudden severe pain, fever, loss of strength, numbness, after an accident, or when there is any doubt about an underlying condition, your GP should be the first step. We refer on whenever that is needed. Not sure? Call +31 20 767 00 98 or read about how we work first.
