Be True to Yourself

Everything is connected to our childhood. The constant support and challenges the universe offers us are always expanding and contracting, and so are we. Nature continually teaches us the truth about ourselves. As humans, we forget this and want to pursue pleasure, positivity and support. Yet every moment contains something positive and something negative; through our senses, however, we can perceive only one at a time. With this understanding, you can look back at your childhood and recognise that, when you felt no one was there for you, you can now see who was there for you. It is all about perception; most of the time, your senses lead you astray. Bridget Wood is a writer, speaker, event manager and coach whose vision is to expand our collective awareness of conscious parenting.
As mothers, we think we have everything under control
But we do not. There is a divine order in which we need both support and challenges—that is what love comes down to. If the mother is overprotective, there may be a father who is very strict, or the child may encounter challenges in the playground. We have no control over that. There is tremendous freedom in recognising this divine order of things; it is what we need to grow into authentic human beings.
A successful family is not about peace and unity
It is about growth. Children come into our lives to press our buttons. It is remarkable how our children reflect the things we find most difficult in ourselves. Children see the world differently from us. There is not one world; there is our view of it. Give your children the gift of creating their own path. How do we become who we are while remaining the mothers we want to be for our children and allowing them to grow as authentically as possible? Ask better questions. The quality of our lives is determined by the quality of the questions we ask ourselves. Better questions lead to better answers, better solutions and better ways of being.

The sky is not the limit; your belief system is
We all have a service to offer the world. If you do not do that for yourself, how can you teach your children to be who they are meant to be? See your children as whole people; they also need to experience pain and disappointment.
