Top 5 Kids Friendly Festivals
Holland is all about festivals, you know that. However, for kids it takes a bit more work to find out what’s really cool, especially at the end of the season. We had a look for you and came up with a shortlist of kids friendly festivals. All our munchkins really want to do is run around with other munchkins, right? So, we looked a bit further than Amsterdam and found some awesome events scattered all over the country.
1. Mini Theatre at Parade Amsterdam
This festival is a delight for young and old. The Parade has a very divers theatre programming and acts especially suitable for kids too. Categorised from all ages up to 6+. Have a look at the website. The Parade is in the Dam from August 11 till the 27th. Most is Dutch spoken.
2. Country Kids at Tuckerville
If you are into Line Dancing, Gospel and Country Music this is for you. Tuckerville in Enschede is all about the Amaricana sound. Where? Enschede, at the border of Germany, mind you it’s a 2 hour drive from Amsterdam. If you’re feeling adventurous go check the website. It’s set in a beautiful lush green area and a very kids friendly festival.
3. Family Food Trucks at Trek Den Haag
Food Truck Festival Trek has been in several cities already. If you missed the Amsterdam edition in July you have a last chance in September. From 7th till the 10th Trek will be in The Hague. This is not your ordinary food festival, it’s one that has an eye for what kids want to eat too. With munchkin friendly theatre specials situated in the city parks. Check out the site.
4. Wild Woodstock at Kiind Festival Amersfoort
A festival dedicated to natural upbringing with a Woodstock feel to it and for all ages. Love, peace and happy parenting is their mantra. A festival especially for children with music, theatre, face painting and markets. Have a look at their website. Kiind Festival is on the 16th of September in Amersfoort.
5. Media Minded at Cinekid Festival Amsterdam
Last but not least is Cinekid. For kids from 4 to 14 year old. An organisation that has been promoting and introducing (new) media to children for over 30 years and giving them a broader view of the landscape. From the 21st till 27th of October Cinekid Festival will be in Amsterdam. Here is the website.
